In his third season as Southeastern Louisiana’s head strength and conditioning coach is New Orleans native and former Hammond High product Matt Moore.
In Moore’s first season with the Lions in 2005, he made impressive strides with the team’s overall strength. Team averages in the Power Clean went from 255 pounds to 290 pounds, the Squat went from an average of 400 pounds to 455 pounds and the average for Bench Press went up from 290 pounds to 310 pounds.
Most recently the Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach at the University of Houston, Moore came to Southeastern with five years of strength and conditioning coaching experience. At UH, he designed and implemented the training programs for baseball, women’s tennis, women’s soccer and men’s golf, while assisting with football and men’s basketball.
Moore started as a student assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2000-02 at his alma mater, Texas A&M. As the Strength and Conditioning Coaching Assistant from 2002-2003, he worked with the tennis. swimming and diving squads. Moore also assisted with football, men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, softball and baseball.
An outside linebacker for the Aggies from 1995-97, Moore earned a M.S. in Kinesiology with a specialization in Sports Physiology, as well as a B.S. in Kinesiology.
Moore is certified by the College Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Married to the former Lyndsey Robison of Tomball, Texas, the couple resides in Hammond and are the parents of an infant son, Beckett.
