HAMMOND – Whitney Curry won 11 individual high school state championships and was part of six team titles with St. Thomas Aquinas, propelling her to a spot on the Wake Forest cross country team. Four years later, bachelor’s degree in hand, she’s back home to run for the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions.

FRISCO, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana senior Cory Roberts has been crowned Capital One Bank/Southland Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year for the second straight season, the league announced Monday. The cross country/track and field all-academic teams were named as well, featuring Roberts along with a pair of Lady Lions, junior Dorcas Kapkiai and sophomore Lacey Sanchez.

He can accomplish that and win national titles in three events June 9-12 at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships at historic Hayward Field. Shallow earned spots in the discus, hammer throw and shot put competitions.
