HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana head football coach Mike Lucas' procedure to repair a heart valve was successful and pending approval from his doctors, will be released to return home early this week.

Lucas underwent the procedure last Thursday and has been going through the recovery process. The second-year coach is slated to be released to return home as late as Tuesday.

Lucas and his family expressed their sincere appreciation for all the thoughts and prayers from fans around the country.

Southeastern, which has been led by acting head coach Tommy Condell for the past three games, will close out its home schedule on Saturday when it faces Texas State in a 2 p.m. Southland Conference contest at Strawberry Stadium.
