FINAL RESULTS

SPRINGFIELD –
Southeastern Louisiana’s Tommy Sikes fired a 4-under-par 68 to finish at 218 overall, but the Lions shot an uncharacteristic 298 as a team and finished in sixth place as the seventh-annual Carter Plantation Intercollegiate concluded Tuesday.

Louisiana-Lafayette, led by three players in the top five, claimed the team championship after finishing with a 54-hole total of 870 – one stroke better than first-day leader Rice. Central Arkansas and UNO finished tied for third at 872 while UT Arlington was fifth at 875.

Sikes, a junior college transfer, recorded his best performance in four events for the Lions as he finished tied with teammate James Taverner for 13th place. Taverner, the 2007 individual medalist, led all individuals as he shot an even-par 72 after posting consecutive rounds of 73 on Monday.

Cedric Scotto struggled for the Lions, shooting a 5-over-par 77 to finish at 219 overall. Horacio Leon fired a 76 to finish at 224 for the Lions with Alvaro Arizabaleta (225) and Rhys West (226) rounding out Southeastern’s five-man contingent.

Senior Patrick Solberg, competing as an individual, posted a 4-over 76 for Southeastern while Rasmus Astrand fired a 79.

UT Arlington’s Zack Fischer claimed medalist honors after shooting a 5-under 67 to finish at 209 for the tournament. Ken Looper of UNO and first-day leader Andrew Noto of ULL were two shots back at 211 while Steven Lecuyer of UCA was fourth at 214.

Southeastern, which concluded its fall season, will return to action on Feb. 15-16, 2010 when it opens its spring campaign at the UTSA Invitational.
