MOBILE, Ala. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's tennis team returned to the court after an eight-day layoff on Monday, losing a tight 4-3 non-conference contest versus Troy at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Courts on the University of South Alabama campus.

The Lions (6-8) lost their fourth straight match by the narrowest of margins. The two teams split the singles matches, with four of the six contests being decided in three sets. Troy (4-9) took the match on the strength of winning the doubles point by sweeping the three doubles matches.

Southeastern evened things with three singles wins from its three singles win leaders. At No. 4, Southeastern senior Guillaume Capovin improved his team-best singles record to 10-4 with a 7-6, 6-1 win over Mario Silva.

The Lions closed to within one thanks to junior Benjamin Enke, who shook off a tough first set to defeat Branko Weber, 0-6, 6-3, 7-6 at No. 2, running his singles mark to 8-6. Lion sophomore Damien Cordoba (9-5) evened the match with a 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 win over Benjamin Chomette at No. 3.

The match came down to No. 5 singles. Troy's Xavier Masson outlasted Lion sophomore Jan Bezdecka 6-4, 5-7, 6-0 to clinch the victory.
