HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana men's tennis team picked up its second Southland Conference victory in as many tries on Friday afternoon, rolling past Lamar, 6-1, at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

The Lions (8-8, 2-2 SLC) evened both their overall and SLC record with the victory. Southeastern took the doubles point and earned five straight-set singles victories to drop Lamar to 7-8 overall and 0-2 in SLC play.

After dropping a match at No. 3 doubles, the Lions rebounded to take the doubles point with wins at the top two positions. At No. 1, Lion junior Benjamin Enke and sophomore Stepan Siska – the nation's 76th-ranked doubles pair – moved past Lamar's Richard Filkuka and Dusan Savkovic, 8-3. The Lions clinched the doubles point moments later, as sophomore Jan Bezdecka and senior Guillaume Capovin finished off Maciej Bogusz and Marton Horvath, 8-4.

In singles play, Southeastern took a 2-0 lead at No. 2. Sophomore Julien Roussel (6-3) led LU's Mario Janjic, 6-5, in the opening set, when Janjic was disqualified for unsporting behavior. The Lions made it 3-0 moments later, as Capovin ran his team-best singles mark to 12-4 with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Diego Snyder at No. 5.

Bezdecka (7-7) clinched the match at No. 6, defeating Savkovic, 6-1, 6-3, and improving his SLC singles record to 4-0. At No. 3, Enke improved to 9-7 with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Marton Horvath.

After Filkuka outlasted sophomore Damien Cordoba (9-7) in three sets at No. 4 to give Lamar its only point of the match, Siska (6-10) closed out the victory with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) win over Bogusz at No. 1.

The Lions return to action on Tuesday, heading to Lorman, Miss. to face Alcorn State at 10 a.m. and Jackson State at 2:30 p.m.
