Southeastern attempts to move above .500 with two matches on Tuesday

Damien Cordoba and the Lions face Alcorn State and Jackson State on Tuesday
HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana men's tennis team will look to move above .500 on Tuesday, when they head to Lorman, Miss for a pair of non-conference matches.

The Lions (8-8) will face Alcorn State at 10 a.m. and Jackson State at 2:30 p.m. Southeastern will be looking to extend its two-match winning streak.

Southeastern had a perfect performance in Southland Conference play last week, defeating Nicholls State, 4-3, and Lamar, 6-1. Senior Guillaume Capovin and freshman Jan Bezdecka were both 2-0 in singles play last week with Bezdecka improving to 4-0 in conference singles play.

Capovin leads the team with a 12-4 singles record this spring. Capovin, freshman Damien Cordoba (9-7), junior Benjamin Enke (9-7), sophomore Julien Roussel (6-3), Bezdecka (7-7) and sophomore Stepan Siska (6-10) make up the Lion singles lineup.

In doubles play, Enke and Siska lead the team with a team-best 6-3 record at the No. 1 position. The Lion duo cracked the most recent national rankings, debuting as the No. 76-ranked doubles tandem in Division I.

Following Tuesday's matches, Southeastern will close out its home schedule on Friday, hosting UT Arlington for a 10 a.m. SLC match at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
