HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University defensive back Tommy Connors was evaluated by team doctors on Monday for his injured right thumb sustained in the first quarter of Saturday's contest at No. 5-ranked Ole Miss.

Connors, a Buck Buchanan Watch List candidate and 2008 All-America selection, will undergo surgery on Wednesday with his prognosis for recovery to be determined.

Southeastern (2-1) returns to action on Saturday at 4:05 p.m. when it travels to face FCS opponent South Dakota (2-1) in Vermillion, S.D.
