HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana received strong performances from senior post

Rashima Jenkins but it was for naught, as Stephen F. Austin countered with eight three-point field goals to earn a 75-61 victory in a battle of Southland Conference East Division rivals Saturday afternoon in the University Center.
The Lady Lions (8-10, 2-3 Southland) tied the game at 39 with 16:40 remaining, but SFA answered with 10-0 run and Southeastern got no closer than eight from there. The Ladyjacks led by as many as 18 down the stretch and improved to 9-7 overall and 4-1 in league play to remain atop the Southland Conference East Division.
Jenkins led all scorers with 21 points for the Lady Lions and was joined in double figures by sophomore guard
Kelli Jenkins, who netted 12 points. Freshman guard
Erica Burgess led the Lady Lions with three assists and two steals.
Southeastern held a 46-42 rebounding advantage behind Ivory and Rashima Jenkins. Ivory, a Shreveport native, pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds, while Jenkins fell just short of her third consecutive double with nine boards.
SFA senior guard Whitney Cormier also just missed a double-double with a team-high 18 points and nine rebounds. Cormier also was 3-for-6 from outside the arc, as the Ladyjacks hit 44.4 percent (8-for-18) from behind the arc. Junior guard Ebony Alexander led SFA with 12 assists, while sophomore guard Tammara Marion joined Cormier in double figures with 14 points.
Southeastern trailed at the break, 34-27, after Rashima Jenkins scored 15 points to keep the Lady Lions within striking distance. The Lady Lions opened the half with a 12-5 run and a three by junior guard
Chelsea Hix knotted the score with a three from the left wing with 16:40 remaining.
