AVONDALE – The nationally-ranked Southeastern Louisiana University golf team returns to action for its second tournament of the spring when it opens play Monday at the 2010 Allstate Sugar Bowl Mardi Gras Invitational at TPC Louisiana.
The 54-hole tournament, hosted by UNO, concludes Tuesday at the home of the PGA Tour's Zurich Classic. Southeastern, ranked No. 47 in the latest Golfstat rankings, is part of a 15-team field that features three schools ranked in the top 50 (No. 28 North Carolina State and No. 43 San Diego) and seven teams ranked in the top 100.
Joining Southeastern, UNO, NC State and San Diego in the field include UALR, Austin Peay, Campbell, Centenary, Liberty, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Nicholls State, Troy and Wichita State.
The field will play 36 holes on Monday prior to Tuesday's final round. Action will begin each day at 8 a.m., and fans are invited to attend the event for free.
Last year, Southeastern entered the clubhouse with the lead only to see UNO rally with a 4-under-par 284 to claim the title by four shots.

Alvaro Arizabaleta (72.33) and Phillip Westermann (70.33).
Westermann shined in his debut last week at the UTSA/Oak Hill Invitational claiming medalist honors with a 2-under-par 211 and helping Southeastern to a second-place finish, two strokes behind No. 16 Texas Tech.
