HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana junior forward
Rashima Jenkins recorded her third double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds, but the Lady Lions could not overcome a sluggish offensive effort in a 53-44 loss at Texas State in Southland Conference women’s basketball action Wednesday night in Strahan Coliseum.
The Lady Lions (9-12, 3-5 SLC) were held to 27.8 shooting (20-for-72) for the night. Despite committing 23 turnovers, Texas State snapped an eight-game losing streak and picked up its first league victory of the season, improving to 5-14 overall and 1-7 in league play.
Jenkins was the only Lady Lion to score in double figures. Freshman guard

Zevy Ivory contributed six points and seven rebounds for the Lady Lions.
Texas State was led by junior forward Chika Ofoegbu, who finished with a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Bobcats also got nine points off the bench from freshman guard Diamond Ford, while sophomore forward Lacey Klause blocked five shots.
Texas State pushed a two-point halftime lead to 10 on a three by Ford with 14:18 remaining. Southeastern then answered with an 11-2 run fueled by an aggressive full-court pressure and a
Mary Fountain layup with 12:16 remaining cut the lead to 37-36.
Southeastern then went cold from the floor and Texas State stretched the lead to 43-36 with 8:25 left on a jumper by Aimee Hilburn. The Lady Lions would get no closer than four the rest of the way.
Neither team could in a flow offensively in the opening half. The Lady Lions led most of the opening half after holding Texas State scoreless for the first six minutes-plus of the contest. However, Texas State held Southeastern to 24.2 percent (8-for-33) to take a two-point lead.
Southeastern will return home on Saturday, hosting UTSA at 3 p.m. for the Pink Zone game dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. The Lady Lions will don pink uniforms and fans will receive free pink t-shirts as available. Southeastern will also honor breast cancer survivors at halftime with several survivors serving as honorary coaches. Senior guard
