KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After helping the Southeastern Louisiana University men’s basketball team to a 19-12 record and the semifinals of the State Farm Southland Conference Tournament, senior Patrick Sullivan was named Tuesday as a first-team member on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District 23 squad in a release by the organization.

Sullivan, who concluded his career after the Lions’ 88-85 loss to eventual Southland Conference champion Sam Houston State, was joined on the first team by Anatoly Bose of Nicholls State, Marquez Haynes of UT Arlington, Ashton Mitchell of SHSU and Kevin Palmer of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

“This is a well deserved honor for Patrick and is a reflection of all the hard work that he put in during his time here at Southeastern,” head coach Jim Yarbrough said. “He played a significant role on our team and we’re very proud that he was rewarded for all his contributions to the program.”

Named to the second team were Corey Allmond and Gilberto Clavell of SHSU, DeAndre Hall of Texas Southern, Darnell Hugee of Prairie View and Garrison Johnson of Jackson State. The 240 student-athletes, from 24 districts and selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, are eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams, to be announced on Saturday, April 3, at 11 a.m. (EDT) at Bracket Town in the Indianapolis Convention Center in Indianapolis, Ind., during the NABC Convention and NCAA Final Four.

Sullivan led Southeastern in scoring (15.7 ppg.), rebounds (8.7 rpg.), blocked shots (102) and field goal percentage (.534). The Orlando, Fla. native concluded his career as the Lions’ all-time leader in games played (121) and blocked shots (277) while ranking third in rebounds (801), fifth in field goal percentage (.562) and seventh in scoring (1,283).

Sullivan, a 6-foot-9 post player, twice was named the Southland Conference Player of the Week and earned second-team All-Conference honors. He led the Lions to their sixth winning season in the last seven years, setting the Southeastern single-season record in blocked shots (102). His 194 made field goals were the sixth highest in a single season and he was the only player to start all 31 games during the season.
