SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana sophomore Audrey Chelini, freshman Camille Pilon and sophomore Morgane Dadot each picked up singles victories to propel the Lady Lions to a 4-3 Southland Conference win over UTSA Tuesday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.

With every starter earning a victory in either singles and doubles play, Southeastern (3-5, 1-2 Southland) picked up its first league victory of the season. UTSA fell to 3-7 overall and 0-3 in league play.

“It was a complete team effort today,” Southeastern head coach Jason Hayes said. “Each person did their best to help us win. We still need some work with staying focused, but this was a big win and I'm happy with how the team fought.”

For the first time in league play, Southeastern won the doubles point. The Lady Lions countered a UTSA victory at No. 1, with wins at the bottom of the doubles draw. At No. 2, Pilon and freshman Nina Schmied defeated Sarah Adams and Caroline Dedering, 8-4. Sophomore Annika Hanke and freshman Mia Hagiu earned their second doubles win of the spring, defeating the Roadrunner pair of Kavya Menon and Katie Ottenbrit, 8-3, at No. 3.

“I was very happy to see the girls come out from the first point and play with such intensity,” Hayes commented.

The two teams split the six singles matches. At No. 1 in singles play, Chelini defeated Micaela Silva, 6-2, 6-0, to improve to 5-3 on the spring. At No. 3, Pilon moved above .500 on the spring, running her record to 4-3 with a 6-2, 7-6 win over Menon. Dadot picked up her team-high sixth singles victory of the spring at No. 4, rolling past Vivian Carillo, 6-1, 6-1.

The Lady Lions will be back in action on Wednesday, facing Houston in a 1 p.m. non-conference road match.
