COVINGTON – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over Louisiana Tech in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at the Stone Creek Club and Spa.

Southeastern won five of six singles matches and two doubles matches to improve to 6-8 overall. Louisiana Tech, which was playing with only five players, fell to 6-10 this spring.

At No. 2 doubles, sophomores Annika Hanke and Mia Hagiu rallied to earn an 8-6 win over Rocio Juarez and Cecille Vichery. A default win at No. 3 allowed Southeastern to take the doubles point. The Lady Lions improved to 6-0 this season when they win the doubles point.

“It was a nice win for us today,” Southeastern head coach Jason Hayes commented. “Coming back in doubles was key and gave us the confidence we needed to play well in singles play.”

A default win for Hanke at No. 6 gave Southeastern a 2-0 lead. The Lady Lions closed out the match with three straight set singles wins. At No. 2, sophomore Morgane Dadot rolled past Vichery, 6-0, 6-2, to run her team-best singles record to 11-2 this spring.

At No. 3, freshman Camille Pilon (7-6) was equally dominant, making short work of Maartje de Wit, 6-2, 6-0. Lady Lion freshman Nina Schmied (5-9) improved to 3-1 this spring at No. 4, battling past Juarez, 7-6, 7-6.

Southeastern's final point of the day came via a three-set victory at the top of the singles draw. Sophomore Audrey Chelini ran her singles mark to 8-6 with a 7-6, 4-6, 10-5 victory over Vivian ten Dolle at No. 1.

The Lady Lions will take a week off before hosting Southland Conference rival Stephen F. Austin on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Covington.
