FRISCO, Texas – After helping Southeastern Louisiana secure its second straight berth in the Southland Conference Tournament, Lady Lion senior forward Zevy Ivory was named to the 2009-10 Women’s Basketball All-Southland Conference teams which were announced by the league office on Monday.

Ivory, a native of Shreveport, was named to the team as a third team selection. The Southwood High School product is the team’s lone four-year senior and was one of the team’s leaders.

“We’re very pleased to see Zevy receive this well deserved honor,” Southeastern head coach Lori Davis Jones said. “She’s been a great representative for our program both on the court and in the locker room. Zevy’s really stepped her game up this season and has played a key role for us.”

Ivory is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 10.0 points per game and a team-high 6.7 rebounds per contest. In Southland Conference play, she has pushed those numbers to 12.4 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per contest. Over the last eight games, Ivory has established herself as the team’s go-to player, averaging 16.1 points per contest.

Part of two Southland Conference East Division championship teams, Ivory has been a solid contributor for the Lady Lions throughout her career. Ivory ranks 13th in school history with 528 career rebounds and her 80 career blocked shots are the fourth-most by a Lady Lion.

Lamar’s Jenna Plumley was named the Southland Conference Player and Newcomer of the Year. Central Arkansas forward Megan Herbert was named the league’s top freshman, while UCA head coach Matt Daniel took home Coach of the Year honors. UT Arlington’s Shalyn Martin earned Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

Ivory and the Lady Lions will open Southland Conference Tournament action on Tuesday, facing top seed Lamar at 6 p.m. at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.
