BATON ROUGE – Second baseman
Brock Hebert of Southeastern Louisiana and pitcher Dustin Lloyd of McNeese State were named Tuesday as the Louisiana Sportswriters Association Baseball Players of the Week.
Hebert, a product of Bourg, La., was named Hitter of the Week as the true freshman extended his hitting streak to a season-high 12 games with a 2-for-3 performance against UT Arlington. He extended his streak with a two-run home run to help No. 22 Southeastern to a 6-0 victory and series win over the Mavs.
Hebert recorded the first four-hit game of his career in an 11-5 win on Saturday, adding an RBI and run scored and a stolen base. He went 3-for-4 with two RBI against UTA on Friday and was 9-for-12 (.750) in the three-game series.
Lloyd, a junior right-hander from Friendswood, Texas, was named Pitcher of the Week as he fired a complete-game victory over Sam Houston State. The effort was Lloyd's third complete game of the season as he allowed one run on eight hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.
