NORMAN, Okla. – Southeastern Louisiana University golfer
Cedric Scotto was one of 119 Division I student-athletes across the nation to be honored for their work on the course and in the classroom as he was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar in a release by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
The selection of Scotto, a junior from Albi, France, marked the sixth consecutive year a Lion was named to the prestigious group joining former standouts Brett Bergeron (2006 and 2007) and
Matthew Carvell (2008 and 2009) and Anders Hofvander (2005). Scotto joined Stephen F. Austin's Kyle Robbins as the lone Southland Conference honorees on the list.
Scotto, a First-Team All-Southland Conference selection, recorded a 72.56 scoring average in a team-high 36 rounds of play that included five top-10 finishes and a pair of victories. He was selected as the Southland Conference Golf Student-Athlete of the Year and was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VI At-Large Team.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II and NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 in Division I, II and III and 3.5 in NAIA.
A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
