HAMMOND – After concluding a four-year basketball career in March, former Southeastern Louisiana University standout Patrick Sullivan will have a chance at competing at the next level beginning July 12 when he competes with the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies in the Las Vegas Summer League.

Sullivan, who worked out with 10 NBA teams since concluding his career, is one of two undrafted rookies competing for the Grizzlies, joining Jeff Adrien of Connecticut. Also on the Grizzlies’ summer league team is O.J. Mayo, 2010 first round draft picks Xavier Henry and Greivis Vasquez, Darrell Arthur, Hasheem Thabeet, Hamed Haddadi, Sam Young and DeMarre Carroll.

The Grizzlies tip off a schedule of five games in seven days July 12 against the Atlanta Hawks on the campus of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. Every Memphis game will be shown on NBA-TV, which plans to carry live broadcasts of the Grizzlies' July 13 game against the Milwaukee Bucks and a July 16 contest with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Memphis assistant coaches David Joerger and Damon Stoudamire will coach the team with director of pro personnel Mitchell Anderson and advance scout Gary Schmidt assisting.

Sullivan led Southeastern in scoring (15.7 ppg.), rebounds (8.7 rpg.), blocked shots (102) and field goal percentage (.534). The Orlando, Fla. native finished as the Lions’ all-time leader in games played (121) and blocked shots (277) while ranking third in rebounds (801), fifth in field goal percentage (.562) and seventh in scoring (1,283).

The 6-foot-9 post player earned first-team (NABC) All-District 23 honors, second-team All-Southland Conference selection and second-team All-Louisiana honors. He was twice named the Southland Conference Player of the Week.

Sullivan led the Lions to their sixth winning season in the last seven years, setting the Southeastern single-season record in blocked shots (102). His 194 made field goals were the sixth highest in a single season and he was the only player to start all 31 games during the season.
