2012 Schedule
HAMMOND – Four regional participants, three Southeastern Conference schools and two conference champions highlight one solid 2012 schedule for the Lions.
SEC-members Mississippi State (March 13-14) and Alabama (April 11), both NCAA Regional participants last season, make appearances at Alumni Field in 2012. The Lions will also travel to LSU (April 25).
“We've got a lot of big boys coming to town,” head coach
Jay Artigues said. “We've also got our typical in-state rivalry games as well.”
Southeastern hosts Indiana State (Feb. 17-19), Louisiana-Lafayette (Feb. 22) and Eastern Illinois (Feb. 24-26) to open the season. The Lions first seven games are at home.
“Indiana State is a very tough opponent to kick off the season with,” Artigues said. “Eastern Illinois, who we know a lot about, we've played them a lot the last four or five years.”
The Lions open Southland Conference play with a split series against Nicholls State March 9-11, hosting the second game. Southeastern will also travel to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (March 16-18), Lamar (March 30-31, April 1), Texas-San Antonio (April 20-22), Northwestern State (April 27-29) and Sam Houston State (May 11-13).
Southeastern hosts conference foes Texas-Arlington (March 23-25), Central Arkansas (April 5-7), reigning conference champion Texas State (April 13-15), Stephen F. Austin (May 4-6) and McNeese State (May 17-19).
The Southland Conference Tournament is once again in San Marcos, Texas (May 23-26).
