HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team will return home this weekend, hosting Southland Conference rival UT Arlington for a three-game series at North Oak Park.
Southeastern (7-11, 0-3 Southland) will be looking to snap a four-game losing streak. The series with the visiting Lady Mavs (14-9, 3-0 Southland) will open with a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday. Sunday's series finale is set for 12 p.m.
The Lady Lions are hitting .255 as a team after the first 18 games of the season. Junior
Kelsey Nichols leads the team with a .396 batting average and 21 hits. Junior

UT Arlington is hitting .266 as a team. Rebecca Collom leads the team with a .397 average, while freshmen Ashley McCarroll and Stephanie Gonzalez (.319) are the other top hitters for the Lady Mavs. Collom also leads the team with five home runs and 19 runs batted in.
The Lady Mavs have a 2.43 team earned run average. Freshman Callie Collins (8-2, 1.13 ERA) has emerged as the team's ace. Freshman Alexis Cantu (1-1, 3.40 ERA) and senior Teri Lyles (5-6, 3.48 ERA) are the other pitchers for UTA.
Southeastern is 13-28 all-time versus UT Arlington. UTA has won four of the last meetings with the Lady Lions' last win coming in the 2009 season finale.
Following this weekend's series, the Lady Lions will be back in action on Tuesday, facing Alcorn State at 1 p.m. in Lorman, Miss.
