NEW ORLEANS –
Matt Ryan hit a two-run double and Bowen Woodson added a three-run home run to fuel a seven-run first inning and give No. 22 Tulane a 7-3 win over Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

David Napoli (1-0) pitched five innings, scattering five hits and allowing one run as Tulane (12-4) collected 10 hits and turned three double plays. Southeastern, which hosts McNeese State in a three-game Southland Conference series beginning Friday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field, fell to 12-5 overall.

Tulane's Nick Boullosa was hit on the first pitch of the game from Southeastern starter Jordan Hymel (2-2) and stole second before scoring two batters later on an RBI single by Jeremy Schaffer. Nick Schneeberger hit a one-out single before Ryan gave the Green Wave a 3-0 lead when he doubled over the head of first baseman Trey Martin.

Briggs Barrios followed with an RBI single before Woodson belted his first home run of the season that gave Tulane a 7-0 lead with one out in the frame.

That would be all the scoring Tulane would need as four Southeastern relievers held the Green Wave to four hits the remainder of the game. Redshirt freshman Matt Pittari pitched 4.1 innings and allowed two hits before Josh Janway pitched 2.1 innings of one-hit ball with three strikeouts. Redshirt freshmen Jason Greenleaf and Steven Poche pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the Lions.

Southeastern chipped away at the lead in the third inning when Brock Hebert and Martin led off the inning with walks and Cass Hargis was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Justin Boudreaux drew a one-out, bases-loaded walk to drive in Martin and cut the deficit to 7-1.

Hebert, who finished 2-for-3 for the Lions, hit a two-out double in the sixth inning and scored on Martin's RBI single to left before Boudreaux reached on an error in the seventh and scored on a ground out by Josh Cryer.

Boudreaux went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Southeastern, which had nine hits in the game but stranded 10 runners. Jonathan Pace added a fifth-inning single for Southeastern to extend his hitting streak to 14 games.

Ryan and Woodson had two hits each to lead Tulane at the plate. Andrew Garner and Alex Facundus pitched a combined 3.1 innings in relief for the Green Wave before Nick Pepitone pitched the final 0.2 innings to notch his eighth save of the year.
