HAMMOND – Jeff Harkensee went 3-for-4, falling a double short of hitting for the cycle, and Southeastern Louisiana pounded out 14 hits as it posted a 15-5 victory over New Orleans in an eight-inning contest Wednesday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

Josh Cryer added three hits and drove in three runs while Brock Hebert belted a three-run home run for Southeastern (28-15), which scored a run in every inning except the first and seventh.

Harkensee, who drove in three runs and scored four times, led off the second inning with a triple off UNO starter Corey Laudermill (0-2) before giving the Lions a 1-0 lead when he scored on a sacrifice fly by Britt Gautreaux. The senior highlighted a three-run third inning when he belted a 1-and-0 pitch from Laudermill over the right field fence for his team-leading ninth home run of the season.

The Lions added a pair of runs in the fourth inning on an RBI grounder by Cass Hargis before Gautreaux scored on a double play by Jonathan Pace. The Lions scored a run in the fifth, three in the sixth before scoring five in the eighth.

After Harkensee drew a walk and Michael Rutland was hit by a pitch, Hebert drilled a two-out pitch from UNO reliever Jonathan Jeanice over the left field fence for his second home run of the year to give the Lions a 13-5 lead. The Lions loaded the bases before Cryer singled through the left side to drive in a pair of runs and close out the game.

Former Fontainebleau High product Matt Pittari (1-0), the second of three pitchers used by Southeastern, tossed 4.1 innings and allowed two hits with two runs (both unearned) and five strikeouts.

Hebert and Cody Gougler had two hits each for Southeastern, which improved to 3-0 on the season against UNO (3-38). Hargis drove in a pair of runs for the Lions, who closed out their midweek home schedule and will return to Southland Conference action beginning Friday at Sam Houston State.

Beau Boudreaux led UNO at the plate going 2-for-5 with a run scored. Blake LeBlanc went 1-for-4 with two RBI for the Privateers, which collected nine hits in the contest, while Jake Palmisano drove in a run in the third inning and Zach Pohto an RBI double in the eighth.

Laudermill took the loss for UNO after allowing six runs on five hits in three innings of work.
