NEW ORLEANS –
Jacob Fisher hit a one-out single in the top of the seventh inning to break up a scoreless ballgame and Southeastern Louisiana closed out its midweek schedule with a 9-1 victory over UNO on a blustery Tuesday evening at Maestri Field.

Cass Hargis laced a two-run triple and Jonathan Pace drove in a pair of runs as Southeastern (31-16) swept its four-game series against UNO (3-43) by scoring five runs in the seventh, three in the eighth and a run in the ninth.

With both teams playing in a game that saw sustained winds gusting off nearby Lake Pontchartrain between 25-30 miles per hour, Southeastern got a break in the seventh when Cody Gougler drew a one-out walk.

Pinch-runner Alex Marse then stole second base and moved to third on a throwing error before Fisher singled up the middle off UNO starter Garrett Manning (0-6) to give Southeastern a 1-0 lead.

Fisher, who led Southeastern at the plate going 2-for-3, then stole second and later moved to third on a passed ball before scoring when Pace hit a sacrifice fly to center field. Trey Martin and Hargis would later score on an error and Josh Cryer added an RBI single to give the Lions a 5-0 lead.

Hargis, a fifth-year senior and former Holy Cross product who was playing at Maestri Field for the first time, drove in Fisher and Martin with a triple to right field before Pace drove him home with a sacrifice fly.

Jason Greenleaf (3-2) pitched 1.1 innings of hitless relief to earn the victory for Southeastern. Jordan Hymel matched a season-high with 5.2 innings in a starting role and allowed three hits with four strikeouts.

UNO averted a shutout in the ninth inning when Andrew Garcia lined a two-out single to right field to score Nolan Church. The Privateers were held to four hits in the contest and committed four errors which led to five unearned runs.

Southeastern will return to action on Friday when it plays host to arch-rival Nicholls State in a 6 p.m. contest at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. The series will move to Thibodaux on Saturday for a 3 p.m. start before returning to Hammond on Sunday at 1.
