Lions Add Pair Of Mid-Year Transfers To 2012 Roster

Roberts signs pair of Floridians to rosters

HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University head football coach Ron Roberts wasted no time in adding new faces to his first Lions' roster as he announced Monday the signing of two players for the 2012 season.

Roberts, who was named the school's 15th head coach on Dec. 19, added a pair of junior college products to the roster. Signing with the Lions are junior college defensive back Tiray Dove (Jacksonville, Fla.) and receiver Roosevelt Morrisset (Miami, Fla.).

Morrisset, a 6-foot-6, 205-pounder, caught 50 passes for 707 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2011 at Northland (Minn.) Community College. The native of Miami, Fla., was one of three players to catch 50 or more passes for the Pioneers after catching 11 passes as a freshman in 2010.

“Roosevelt is a big target who is very athletic and had great ball skills on the deep ball,” Roberts said. “We really think he's going to be able to come in here quickly and make an impact as an outside receiver. We're very excited to have him at Southeastern. He's a great kid with a tremendous work ethic.”

Dove, a 6-2, 205-pound product, totaled 18 tackles with two for loss and an interception as ASA (N.Y.) College. A former Florida Atlantic University commitment out of high school, Dove tallied 16 stops, including three for loss and two sacks as a freshman for the Avengers.

“He's a player that we project to play strong safety for us,” Roberts said of the Jacksonville, Fla., native. “He's a very physical player who is very athletic and we expect him to make an immediate impact in the secondary.”
