HAMMOND, La. – Team Grizz claimed victory in game three of the Heart of the Lion World Series Tuesday night with an 8-7, 12-inning decision over the Rougaroux.
An pitchers duel turned into a slugfest late as the international tie-breaker played a hand in Aaron Haag's grand slam for Team Grizz (3-0) and Sam Roberson's three-run home run for the Rougaroux (0-3) in the 10th inning.
Neither starting pitcher factored in the decision, but both gave the opposing batters trouble. Rougaroux starter Kyle Cedotal allowed two unearned runs in five innings of work on three hits, fanning seven. Kyle Keller, the starter for Team Grizz, allowed three runs, one earned, on three hits and three walks in five innings of work. He fanned eight.
Dylan Hills (1-0) earned the win with a pair of scoreless innings in relief while freshman Mason Klotz (0-2) suffered the loss.
The series continues Thursday at 6 p.m. at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. Admission is free. Fans that can't make it out to the ballpark can watch the game on LionVision (subscription required) located in the fan zone of www.LionSports.net.
