HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team will open the spring portion of its schedule, heading to Hattiesburg, Miss. for a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday.
Southeastern will start the day with a 12 p.m. match at Southern Miss (1-2) at the USM Tennis Courts. Later that evening, the Lions head across town for a 6 p.m. meeting with William Carey (0-2) at the Hattiesburg Racquet Club.
Southeastern returns the top two players in their singles lineup in senior
Audrey Chelini and sophomore
Laura Verges. Chelini, a three-time All-Louisiana selection, is coming off a 14-8 spring that saw her play at the No. 1 spot. In her debut season with the Lions, Verges posted a 14-7 dual match singles mark playing predominantly at No. 2.

Morgane Dadot will look to return to her 2010 form, which saw her finish with a 15-6 singles mark after battling injuries in 2011. Junior
Isabel Brito (12-9) also returns for Southeastern, which will see its roster bolstered by incoming freshmen

Marion Courbis and Natalie Romero.
For Southeastern to improve its 9-13 record, the Lions must reverse its fortunes in doubles, as they saw several matches result in losses last season due to their struggles in doubles. To start the spring, Dadot and Charpenne will team, Verges will pair with Castillo with Chelini and Courbis rounding out the doubles lineup.
Southern Miss opened the season with a 7-0 loss to Auburn, before bouncing back with a 4-3 win over Jacksonville State. In their most recent action, USM lost, 4-3, to Arkansas-Little Rock.
William Carey will be looking for its first win of the spring. The Lady Saders have losses to Jacksonville State and Arkansas-Little Rock under their belts this season.
Following Saturday's action, Southeastern will head to Southern on Wednesday for a 1 p.m. match in Baton Rouge.
