THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Junior
Philipp Westermann fired a two-under-par 70 to earn his 20th career top-10 finish and the Southeastern Louisiana University golf team earned a seventh-place finish as The Woodlands All-American Intercollegiate concluded on Tuesday at The Woodlands Country Club.
Playing in his 29th career event, Westermann notched his fourth consecutive top-10 performance as he finished tied for seventh overall at 4-under 212. Freshman
Baptiste Courtachon finished 29th overall finished tied for 29th overall after shooting a 2-over 74 to finish at 218.
Rhys West carded a 2-over 74 to finish at 219 for the Lions with freshman
Grady Brame recording a 1-over 73 to finish at 226 and
Santiago Mejia finished at 235 after carding an 84.
Southeastern posted a team score of 291 in the final round to finish at 867 – four shots behind No. 19-ranked Clemson. First-day leader Arkansas, ranked No. 10 nationally, claimed the team championship after finishing at 841 with North Texas finishing in second place at 842. Texas A&M (845), SMU (857) and Baylor (861) rounded out the top five with Clemson (863), Southeastern (867), Texas State (870), host Houston (871) and Tulsa (873) finishing sixth through 10th, respectively.
First-day leader Geoff Shaw of Texas A&M claimed medalist honors after posting a 3-under-par 69 to finish at 11-under 205 for the tournament.
Southeastern will return to action on April 23 when it opens play at the 2012 Southland Conference Championships at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney, Texas. The winner of the three-day, 54-hole event will earn the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.
