Box Score

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana senior Audrey Chelini moved into the school's top 10 for career singles victories and helped the Lion women's tennis team to a 7-0 non-conference victory over Prairie View Tuesday afternoon at the Prairie View A&M Tennis Center.

Playing their fourth match in the past five days, the Lions (9-10) snapped a four-match losing streak with Tuesday's victory. Southeastern won all three doubles matches and swept through singles play with six straight set victories.

Southeastern Louisiana head coach Jason Hayes was pleased at how his team shook off Monday's 4-3 loss at Southland Conference foe UTSA.

“Yesterday was a tough loss for us,” Hayes commented. “I'm very happy that we came out with a positive attitude and played at a high level.”

In doubles play, the Lion pair of freshman Adriana Castillo and sophomore Laura Verges won their third straight match, running their team-best doubles mark to 9-3 with an 8-2 win over PVAMU's Raven Lewis and Lerato Ndlovu at No. 1.

At No. 2, Southeastern senior Morgane Dadot and freshman Morgane Charpenne (4-7) were too much for Brittany Harrell and Alejandra Barrera in an 8-3 win. Southeastern debuted a new team at No. 3, as junior Isabel Brito and freshman Natalia Romero completed the sweep with an 8-3 win over Christine Ngo Gwodog and Jade Daniels.

Chelini (9-10) moved into the school's career top 10 for singles wins with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Harrell at No. 1. The victory was the 49th of her career, moving her into a tie for 10th place with former Lady Lion Jennifer LaCoste (1984-87) on the career list.

Chelini and Dadot (9-9) are tied for the team singles victory lead this spring. On the No. 3 court, Dadot made short work of Ndlovu, 6-0, 6-1.

Four Lady Lions picked up their eighth singles victory of the spring. At No. 2, Verges (8-9) got past Lewis, 7-6, 6-3. Her doubles partner Castillo (8-11) cruised at No. 4, 6-4, 6-1, over Gwodog.

At the bottom of the singles draw, Charpenne and Brito both evened their spring singles marks to 8-8. Charpenne won for the second straight day at No. 5, defeating Daniels, 6-2, 6-0. Brito blanked Barrera, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 to complete the victory.

Southeastern will return home on Saturday, hosting Southland foe Northwestern State at 11 a.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
