HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana freshman
Adriana Castillo won in singles and doubles play, but the Lion women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 5-2 decision to Central Arkansas in its Southland Conference and home finale Sunday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Lions (9-12, 1-10 Southland) won the doubles point, but saw UCA come back to win five of six singles matches. The Bears improved to 8-15 overall and 2-8 in league play with the win.

Isabel Brito teamed for the first time in 2012 and got the Lions off to a good start with an 8-2 win over the UCA team of sophomore Sasha Ruocco and freshman Kristina Horsikyan at No. 3.

Laura Verges improved to 10-4 with an 8-5 win over freshman Allison Murphy and senior Allison Hartman. Southeastern completed the sweep minutes later at No. 2, where senior

Morgane Charpenne paired to beat the UCA tandem of junior Kazumi Otani and sophomore Simona Horsikyan, 8-6.
UCA evened the match on the No. 2 singles court, where Verges retired down 1-0 in the second set after dropping the first set, 6-0, to Murphy.
Southeastern briefly took the lead back after Castillo was too much for Hartman at No. 4 in a 6-3, 6-3 victory. The Bears quickly tied it up when Ruocco completed a 6-4, 6-3 win over Charpenne at No. 5.
UCA took the lead for good after a win at the No. 3 court. Dadot battled back to even the match at a set apiece, but eventually fell to Kristina Horsikyan, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2.
The Bears clinched the victory at No. 1, as Simona Horsikyan outlasted Chelini in a grueling second set tiebreaker to close out a 6-2, 7-6 (11-9) victory. Otani capped the win with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Brito at No. 6.
Southeastern will close out 2012 on Monday, when it faces Jackson State at 6 p.m. in Jackson, Miss.
