Lions travel to Texas State on Saturday at 12 p.m.

Box Score

ARLINGTON, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana freshman Morgane Charpenne picked up a straight set singles win, but it was not enough for the Lions to overcome UT Arlington in a 6-1 loss in Southland Conference women's tennis action Friday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center.

Opening a stretch of four road matches in five days, the Lions fell to an 8-8 overall and 1-6 in Southland Conference play. UT Arlington ran its record to 12-7 overall and 7-2 in league action with the victory.

In doubles play, the Lion duo of senior Morgane Dadot and sophomore Laura Verges teamed for an 8-5 win over the Lady Maverick pairing of seniors Maria Martinez-Romero and Nikola Matovicova at the No. 1 position. However, UTA took the point with wins at the other two positions.

Charpenne helped Southeastern avoid the shutout with her sixth singles win of the spring. On the No. 5 court, the Saint-Cyr, France native was too much for UTA freshman Christine Foote in a 7-6, 6-3 victory.

The No. 2 court saw a competitive match between Verges and Lady Mav freshman Verena Scott. After taking the opening set, 6-3, Verges dropped the second set, 6-2 and retired down 3-1 in the third set. UTA took the other four singles matches in straight sets.

Southeastern will be back in action on Saturday, facing Texas State at 12 p.m. in San Marcos, Texas.
