Burst Leads The Way For Southeastern

Distance runners compete at Jim Mize Invitational

Joseph LeGrange was the top Lion athlete in both the 1,500-meter and 3,000-meter run

RUSTON, La. –
Bethany Burst led the way for the Southeastern Louisiana distance runners Saturday, finishing second in the women's 1,500-meter run at the Jim Mize Inivitational in Ruston, La.

Burst (5:01.00) finished just six seconds ahead of teammate Heather Fitzhenry (5:07.49), who finished fourth. Jennifer Ernst placed eighth (5:27.65).

Fitzhenry also finished seventh in the women's 800-meter run (2:29.12) and Burst finished eighth (2:30.48).

On the men's side, Joseph LeGrange turned in the best performances. He finished seventh in the 1,500-meter run (4:33.47) and eighth in the 3,000-meter run (9:44.27).

Corey Odell finished eighth in the 1,500-meter run (4:38.01) and 11th in the 3,000-meter run (10:36.54). Tyler Waggenspack placed 12th in the 3,000-meter run (10:44.05).

Southeastern returns to action Friday at the South Alabama Invitational in Mobile, Ala.
