Morgane Charpenne won in singles play, but it was not enough in a 4-3 loss to UTSA in Southland Conference women's tennis action Monday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Lions (8-10, 1-8 Southland) dropped their fourth consecutive match. UTSA (8-11, 3-6 Southland) rallied after losing the doubles point to snap a seven-match losing streak.

Laura Verges improved their team-best doubles record to 8-3 with an 8-4 win over UTSA senior Stefanie Peana and sophomore Isabelle Jonsson.
Charpenne and senior
Morgane Dadot clinched the doubles point for the Lions with their third win of the spring at No. 3. The Southeastern duo got past juniors Kavya Menon and Natalie Hand, 8-6.
UTSA retook the lead with straight set victories on the No. 3 and 4 courts. However, Chelini came back to even the score with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Peana. With 48 singles victories in her Lion career, the Bordeaux, France product needs one win to move into the school's career top 10.
The tie didn't last, as the Roadrunners clinched the victory with wins at the No. 2 and 6 positions. Charpenne won for the second time in three matches to close out the match, defeating UTSA freshman Irene Gonzalez, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 5.
Southeastern will close out its Texas trip on Tuesday, facing Prairie View at 1 p.m.
