Krohn Participates in USA Beach Volleyball Tryout

Sophomore competes for spot on national team

Sophomore Cherish Krohn tried out for the USA Volleyball Beach program Sunday in Gulf Shores, Ala.
HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana sophomore outside hitter Cherish Krohn participated Sunday in a tryout for the USA Volleyball Beach program in Gulf Shores, Ala.

USAV Beach works to advance beach volleyball talent and build a broader and stronger pipeline of athletes and coaches for the U.S. Olympic Teams.

The beach programs at USA Volleyball build the pipeline for young beach volleyball athletes who aspire to reach the elite level of their sport and who dream of representing the United States on the Beach Volleyball National Team.

"Cherish did a great job representing Southeastern and displaying her passion for the sport,” head coach Geno Frugoli said. “It was a grueling four-hour tryout on hot sand and she competed well."

Krohn finished sixth on the team in digs (140) and fourth in serving percentage (.931) this past season. As a freshman, she finished third on the team in kills per set (1.80) and points per set (2.04).

In 2008 Krohn was part of a squad representing the Absolute Volleyball Academy of Texas that advanced to the Junior Olympics.

Selected athletes will comprise the Future Select-U15, Select-U17, Youth-U19, Junior-U21, and Senior A2-U26 beach national teams representing the United States in various national and international competitions including the Beach High Performance Championships on July 18-22 in Hermosa Beach, California.
