HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana scored  a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game Saturday, but Stephen F. Austin answered with a pair in the tenth for a 5-3 series-tying victory over the Lions.

SFA (19-27, 12-14 Southland) broke open a tie game with an eighth-inning run. Center fielder Rory Myers singled with two out and moved to second on Rene' Moreda's walk. Second baseman Freddy Villalobos pulled a double just inside the third-base line to plate Meyers for a 2-1 SFA lead.

The Lumberjacks added another run in the ninth on four-consecutive singles. Head coach Jay Artigues brought sophomore left-hander Matt Pittari out of the pen with the bases load and one out. He retired both hitters and prevented any further damage.

Southeastern (32-16, 16-10 Southland) rallied in the ninth to tie the game. Michael Rutland drew a walk as a pinch hitter and moved to second on Alex Marse's single to left. Harry Slade hit a sinking liner to center that Myers couldn't grab. The hit loaded the bases with no outs.

Ben Hernandez chopped a ball to third and the throw home forced out Rutland. Attempting to turn a double play, catcher Jarid Scarafiotti's throw to first was dropped by the first baseman. Marse scored to bring the Lions within a run.

SFA closer Alex Moshier (4-0)  intentionally walked Brock Hebert to load the bases. Jonathan Pace drove in the the tying run with a sacrifice fly to center field.

The Lumberjacks were not done swinging the bats. With one out in the tenth, Hunter Dozier doubled to left-center off Dylan Hills (8-3) and scored on Scarafiotti's solo home run to left.

Moshier picked up the win for SFA. Hills suffered the loss in what had been a pitcher's duel for most of the game. Freshman right-handers Cameron Gann and Andro Cutura kept the hitters off balance until late.

The series concludes Sunday at 1 p.m. with Take A Kid To The Game Day. All children 12 and under will be admitted free with a paying adult. It is also Sunday in the Park, brought to you by Academy Sports and Outdoors, with Roomie's Kid Zone open down the right-field line.

Junior left-hander Buck Bernard (2-0, 1.812) heads to the mound for the Lions and will be opposed by SFA senior right-hander Colton Eubanks (4-5, 3.71).  The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and live statistics will be available at www.LionSports.net.
