HAMMOND, La. – Former Louisiana Tech outside hitter
Tiffany Thomas has transferred to Southeastern Louisiana University to continue her collegiate volleyball career coach Geno Frugoli announced Tuesday.
As a freshman, the native of Friendswood, Texas, appeared in 19 matches for the Lady Techsters during the 2012 season. Thomas finished with the second-best attack percentage (.170) on the team and recorded eight blocks.
“Tiffany has shown great maturity in finding a perfect college fit and we think she has found a perfect home at Southeastern,” Frugoli said. “Her 6-foot-2 frame and skill sets will definitely be valuable in our offense and blocking. I'm impressed with her as a person as well and look forward to her contributions."
Thomas led Santa Fe High School (Friendswood) to 59 wins her final two seasons, recording 694 kills, 132 blocks and 76 service aces.
A three-time all-district selection, Thomas was named to the Under Armour Girls' High School All-America Watch List in 2011. She becomes the fourth member of the incoming class signed by Frugoli for the upcoming season.
Thomas did not see action in any of Louisiana Tech's matches at the Tangi Tourism Lion Classic this past September at Southeastern.
The Lady Lions finished the 2012 season with an 11-19 record overall, and 5-13 in Southland Conference play, more than doubling both win totals from the previous season. Southeastern also participated in the conference tournament for the first time in three years.
