HAMMOND – The unbeaten Southeastern Louisiana tennis team closes its season-opening five match road swing on Saturday, when it faces Alcorn State at 1 p.m. on the ASU campus.

Nastya Tokareva, junior
Valya Rusakova, freshman
Renee Villarreal and freshman
Sarah Kriem all pick up singles victories. Alcorn State (0-2) will be looking for its first win of the season after opening the spring with losses to McNeese State and Jackson State.
All eight Lions have seen action in singles play and have combined for a 20-3 record to start the season. Tokareva, the reigning Southland Conference Player of the Week, leads the team with a 4-0 singles mark, while Villarreal (3-0), Kriem (2-0), senior
Isabel Brito (2-0) and sophomore
Adriana Castillo (1-0) are also unblemished. Nychytailova and Rusakova are both 3-1 in singles play, while sophomore
Morgane Charpenne (1-1) rounds out the singles lineup.
In doubles play, Southeastern is a perfect 4-0 on the season. Castillo and Villarreal have teamed for a 2-0 record, while the teams of Kriem and Nychytailova, as well as Rusakova and Tokareva are both 1-0.
Arielle Buchman and Merlin Tipp have managed the lone singles wins for Alcorn State. Buchman and Chan Rutherford teamed for an 8-4 doubles win at No. 2 at Jackson State. Last season, Southeastern defeated Alcorn State twice, both by 6-1 scores.
Southeastern will open the home portion of its 2013 schedule on Feb. 16, when it hosts William Carey at 1 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
