HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team will look to maintain its Southland Conference lead this week when it hosts a pair of league foes at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Lions (14-1, 4-0 Southland) will start the week's action by welcoming Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (10-1, 3-1 Southland) on Friday. Sam Houston State (4-9, 0-3 Southland) visits on Saturday. First serve for both matches is 11 a.m.
Southeastern will be back on the courts for the first time since a 6-1 win over league rival Lamar on March 17 in Hammond. The Lions have also defeated Oral Roberts, Central Arkansas and McNeese State in Southland play.
The Lady Lions are a combined 71-18 in singles play this spring and feature five players with double-digits singles victories. Freshman

Isabel Brito (11-1), freshman
Reginka Nychytailova (11-4) and junior
Valya Rusakova (10-5) have all been excellent for Southeastern.
In doubles play, Southeastern enters the week's matches with a 25-4 record as a team. Villarreal and sophomore
Adriana Castillo have a team-best 10-2 doubles mark, while Rusakova and Tokareva (5-1) have also proven an effective pairing.
The Islanders' lone loss was to Stephen F. Austin. Stefanie Nicolae (10-1) and Celia Rodriguez (9-0) are the top singles players for A&M-Corpus Christi. Nicolae and Doris Kuselj are also a perfect 9-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Sam Houston State, which plays at Nicholls State on Friday, is looking for its first Southland Conference victory. Tanya Postnikova has a team-best 11-2 record in singles play. Sheridan Currie and Natalie Petaia sport the Bearkats' top doubles mark at 7-5.
Following this week's action, Southeastern will head to Houston, Texas to face Houston on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
