HAMMOND – The Southland Conference regular season champion Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team closed out its regular season schedule with a pair of non-conference victories Tuesday at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

The Lions extended their win streak to seven matches and improved to 21-2 on the season. Southeastern opened the day with a 4-0 win over Alcorn State, then defeated Jackson State, 4-0, in a night match. Both matches were played under postseason rules and were stopped when decided.

In the two matches, freshman Reginka Nychytailova (16-7), freshman Renee Villarreal (21-0) and sophomore Adriana Castillo (5-5) each picked up a pair of singles victories. Villarreal, a freshman from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, is the eighth player in school history to record 20-plus singles victories in a season. Her win total is tied for the fifth-most ever by a Lion.

Playing in her final home match, Southeastern's lone senior Isabel Brito teamed with Nychytailova for a pair of doubles victories. Brito and Nychytailova finished the regular season with a 6-3 doubles record. In the win over Jackson State, the team of sophomore Morgane Charpenne and freshman Nastya Tokareva earned their first win of the spring with an 8-1 win over Rebekah Adewumi and Laura Rojas.

Villarreal and sophomore Adriana Castillo also had two doubles victories on Tuesday, running their team-best record to 16-3. The 16 victories by the Lion tandem are tied for the fourth-most in a season by a doubles team in school history.

Southeastern now sets its sights on the Southland Conference Tournament, which runs April 26-28 in Beaumont, Texas. The top seed Lions will face Central Arkansas in Friday's opening round. The winner of the tournament will advance to the NCAA Tournament.
