FRISCO, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana's
Jenna Baker and Lamar's Beatrice Douglas were tabbed Southland women's co-field athletes of the week while McNeese State junior Jasmine Webb was named women's track athlete of the week, the league announced Wednesday.
Baker, the first Lady Lion to be honored by the conference this season, claimed an individual title in the javelin throw at the Samford Open in Birmingham, Ala. The junior from Mandeville, La. (Mandeville H.S.), won her second consecutive javelin event after a throw of 133 feet, 3 inches. She began the streak by claiming victory at the Southeastern Lion Invitational, May 19.
Douglas earned a top-five finish at the Bobcat Classic in San Marcos, Texas. The junior from Silsbee, Texas (Silsbee H.S.), finished third in the long jump after covering a distance of 19 feet, 1.25 inches. The jump ranks fifth in the Southland and marked a season-best for the Cardinal.
Webb continued her impressive outdoor campaign after setting two conference marks at the Bobcat Classic hosted by Texas State in San Marcos, Texas. The junior from Dallas, Texas (Bishop Dunne H.S.), set a school record and a conference-best mark in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.59 seconds and was the first collegian to cross the line. Webb set another school record after completing the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.78 seconds. The junior took part as a leg on the 4x100 relay team that finished fourth in a time of 45.67 seconds. Webb claims the award for the fourth time this season and has won it in consecutive weeks.
Southeastern's
Jonathan Kinchen was an honorable mention for men's field athlete of the week after setting a personal record en route to a second-place finish in the men's hammer throw (203-05) to Alabama's Elias Hakansson, who broke Samford's facility record. Kinchen finished fifth in the men's shot put (49-01.50) and seventh in the men's discus throw (154-05).

Phillippe Moore (April 24) as the third Southeastern athlete to earn an outdoor award this season. The men's 4x400 relay team was honored during the indoor season (Feb. 18).
Each school's sports information director nominates and votes for the athletes of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own student-athlete. To receive honorable mention, an athlete must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
