BATON ROUGE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team dropped its final non-conference game of the regular season, 17-3, in seven innings Tuesday to No. 9-ranked LSU at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
LSU (33-15) took an early lead with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning.
Southeastern (22-26) answered with a solo homer in the second of the bat of
Christian Garcia. It was the fourth home run of the season for the junior outfielder from Slidell, Louisiana.
The Tigers regained the lead in the bottom of the inning on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly and then tacked on nine more runs in the fourth.
SLU responded with a pair of runs in the fifth.
Bryce Grizzaffi pulled a two-out single into left-center field, putting him on base for
Evan Keller's seventh home run of the season. Keller (2-for-3) would finish the night with a pair of hits, tying him for the team lead with 13 multi-hit games this season.
LSU would add six more runs in the sixth.
Samuel Dutton (1-1), the first of four Tiger pitchers, earned the win. He allowed one run on two in three innings pitched, striking out a pair of batters.
Andrew Yuratich (1-1), the second of five SLU pitchers, suffered the loss. He allowed one run on one hit in one inning of relief work, walking one and striking out one.

Southeastern wraps up the regular season with a three-game conference series against Nicholls at Ray E. Didier Field in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Games are slated for 6 p.m. Thursday, 6 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. Part of a new Southland schedule format in 2022 that designates a rival for both a home and away series, it will be the second time the teams face each other this season.
