BATON ROUGE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team suffered a tough 4-1 loss to the University of South Florida Friday afternoon in its opening appearance at the Tiger Beach Challenge.
SLU (1-4, 1-1 SLC) dropped a hard-fought match against South Florida to close out day one of the two-day tournament on the road. The Lady Lions' gained spurts of momentum early in their matches, but could not seal the deal.
Alexis Logarbo and
Mia McKinney battled in a tight match at pair one to aid Southeastern in evading the shutout. Logarbo and McKinney stepped up to the challenge to claim a 20-23, 21-18, 15-13 victory over the Bulls.
The juniors gained their second solid victory of the season with wins over New Orleans and USF. Logarbo/McKinney stand 2-3 so far this season as Southeastern's top pair.
The Lady Lions will return to the sand for day two Saturday afternoon at 2:15 p.m. to face the home team LSU Tigers at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium.
