THIBODAUX, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team capped the weekend with a split decision on day three of the Southland Conference Mid-Year Invitational against San Jose State and conference rival Nicholls.
SLU (6-14, 4-5 SLC) opened serve against San Jose State and suffered a 4-1 loss Sunday afternoon. Aspen Steele and Anne Brauckmiller worked to provide a spark of momentum for the Lady Lions as the pair gained a 21-15, 18-21, 15-12 victory.
Southeastern returned to the sand to secure a 4-1 victory over Nicholls to end the day on a solid note. SLU posted its fourth conference win of the season against the Colonels as four matches were decided with a two-set edge. Alexis Logarbo/Mia McKinney dominated on court one with a 21-6, 21-5 victory against Nicholls' top pair. Steele/Brauckmiller extended their three-match winning streak with a commanding 21-12, 21-5 victory on court five as the pair stands 9-7 this season.
The Lady Lions will return to the sand Friday, April 4 against Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Miss. The time of the match will be announced at a later date.
