BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team opened the 2025 Blazer Beach Bash with a split decision against Chattanooga and Tennessee Tech Friday afternoon at the UAB Beach Volleyball Courts.
Southeastern (9-15, 3-5 SLC) fell 5-0 to Chattanooga (17-5, 6-0) to begin day one on the road. Chattanooga gained its momentum early in the matchas the Lady Lions worked to cut into the deficit. Ysabella Lockwood and Kennedi Steele battled for three sets on court three alongside Alexis Logarbo and Mia McKinney on court one, but SLU could not evade the shutout.
The Lady Lions returned to the sand with a different mindset as they secured a 5-0 victory over Tennessee Tech (3-11, 1-5) to close out the day. Southeastern took care of business early in the match as its momentum helped claim its second sweep of the season. Anne Brauckmiller and Aspen Steele set the tone of the match with a commanding 21-11, 21-9 victory on court five while Makayla Hicks and Mia Sauers also posted a dominant 21-13, 21-15 win.
SLU will return to sand for day two of the tournament, opening serve Saturday morning against Austin Peay at 8 a.m. to begin the day. Southeastern will move on to face the home team UAB at 4 p.m. to close out the weekend. All matches will be played at the UAB Beach Volleyball Courts and live stats can be accessed on the beach volleyball schedule page at www.lionsports.net.
