SLU Drops Pair on Day Two of Bulldog Invitational

Southeastern (19-5) closes out tournament versus ETSU Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team dropped two games on the second day of the Bulldog Invitational Friday afternoon at Nusz Park.

In the opener, SLU (19-5) dropped its second straight one-run decision, falling to Omaha (11-5), 3-2. No. 1 Oklahoma (18-1) handed Southeastern a 13-0 loss in the nightcap.

Madison Rayner produced the Lady Lions' lone runs of the day in the loss to Omaha. She doubled home Cam Goodman and Ka'Lyn Watson in the top of the third inning, but SLU was unable to collect another hit the rest of the way versus Omaha's Kamryn Meyer (4-3).

Cera Blanchard (9-2) took the loss in the circle, allowing three runs in two innings. KK Ladner tossed four shutout innings and struck out six, but the Lady Lions could not solve Meyer, who finished with 15 strikeouts.

In the nightcap, OU's Jordy Bahl (6-1) threw a perfect game versus the Lady Lions. The two-time defending national champion Sooners, who feature Division I's top team batting average, touched up four Lady Lion pitchers for 17 hits.

Southeastern will close out the tournament Saturday with an 11:30 a.m. contest versus East Tennessee State. Live stats, provided by tourney host Mississippi State, will be accessible via the softball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
